I.- Answer the following questions using your own words but taking into account the information in the text.
   
a) What are the real reasons why consumers buy eco-friendly goods?
  Consumers really buy eco-friendly products in order to impress other people, by showing them that they are concerned about the environment and can also pay for more expensive products.
   
b) Why do some film stars promote eco-friendly products?
  ... because it gives them a positive image.
   
  NOTA: las respuestas de esta pregunta I. son simplemente dos propuestas entre otras posibles. Añade las tuyas como comentario a esta entrada y las comentaré.

II.- Are the following statements true (T) or false (F)? Identify the part of the text that supports your answer by copying the exact passage on the answer sheet.
   
a) People tend to buy more green products online.
  FALSE: While consumers are more likely to 'go green' on the high street... the privacy of online shopping brings out an entirely different behaviour.
   
b) The car that most film stars own is a Toyota Prius.
  FALSE: Celebrities including Leonardo Di Caprio and Cameron Diaz have been photographed behind the wheel of a Prius...
   
c) People don't mind buying 'green' products when they are more expensive if other people notice what they are buying.

  NOTA: el enunciado que pide elegir solo uno de los temas propuestos es un claro "corta y pega" de convocatorias pasadas. Antes no había más que un examen posible, pero el estudiante podía elegir entre dos temas distintos propuestos para la redacción. Ahora se introducen dos opciones de examen completo, A y B, cada uno con un tema único de redacción.

    a) they buy eco-friendly goods by the opinion that the public can have about them.

    b) because there are studies that showed that the promote those products with famous person increasing the consum.

    Tu respuesta para la pregunta a) creo que sí demuestra que has entendido el enunciado y el texto, y aunque no esté muy bien redactada creo que te valdría para obtener la mitad de los puntos.

    Tu oración corregida quedaría así:

    They buy eco-friendly goods because of the opinion that other people could have about them.

    He cambiado public por other people porque la primera es demasiado general (la opinión pública) y no lo usaríamos para describir, por ejemplo, a los testigos de nuestras compras en un supermercado, que sí son other people.

    Tu respuesta para la b), sin embargo, falla. No te han preguntado por qué contratan a estrellas para promocionar esos productos, sino por qué se prestan las estrellas a ello. Además, no encuentro la información que das en el texto.

    Tu oración podría quedar corregida así:

    ...because there are studies that show that promoting these products with famous people increases sales

    pero recuerda que esto no contesta el enunciado y sería una respuesta incorrecta.

  3. En la pregunta 1 aunque no este redacctado valdria esto como citacion y mitad de la puntuacion?

    1-...according to a report which has found consumers are more concerned about impressing the neighbours tahn saving the planet.

    2-Celebrities... have been photographed behind the wheel of a Prius... sending the message that they are concerned for the enviroment.

    En la pregunta 1 aunque no este redacctado valdria esto como citacion y mitad de la puntuacion?

    La información que sirve de base a la respuesta de la pregunta 1.a) no está en el texto que citas, sino en el último párrafo:

    "When you publicly display your environmentally friendly nature, you send the signal that you care"...The study also showed that people were often more willing to buy green products when they were the most expensive option, because it showed they could afford to be caring.


    En la 1.b) (me imagino que te refieres a esta pregunta cuando dices "2"), el texto que citas sí contiene lo esencial de la respuesta, así que yo entiendo que te darían la mitad de los puntos. Eso sí, copia bien el texto, porque no puedes permitirte tener faltas de ortografía en estas circunstancias.

    Consumers want to seem concerned about taking care of the environment and they also want to show other people that they can afford these expensive products.

    Tu respuesta es buena, aunque yo eliminaría taking care of, que me parece que carga demasiado la oración sin aportar gran cosa a cambio.

    Ninguna de tus dos respuestas sería válida.

    En la primera, deberías haber escrito eco-friendly goods, sin the y después del verbo to want la estructura correcta es to + INFINITIVO, así que deberías haber puesto ... because they want to impress....

    Tu segunda respuesta no resulta comprensible. Prueba a utilizar una estructura más simple, sin tanta oración subordinada.

    La opción c) se refiere a lo que mueve a los consumidores cuando realizan sus compras online, pero lo que el estudio revela es precisamente que los productos comprados de esta forma no son productos ecológicos. El enunciado pregunta por la motivación de los consumidores al comprar productos ecológicos, y la respuesta se encuentra en la primera frase del artículo.
